Philip Sohmen is committed to a 5-day headstand inversion challenge, in support of InspiringHK Sports Foundation's youth work. Read on to find out more!
As a former competitive swimmer and water polo player, sport has been an important part of Philip Sohmen’s life – he used to spend 4 hours a day in a swimming pool. It still remains part of his daily routine, especially during the pandemic, exercise is the best way to release stress and anxiety.
He finds yoga particularly calming because it combines both physical work as well as breathing and meditative aspects, and it works in a small space. Even though he has been practicing for some years, he is still not good at it, so his goal for this challenge is to practice every day and to be able to hold a headstand for at least one minute. Hope you can join me in supporting sports opportunities for more children in Hong Kong by giving to Inspiring HK Foundation!

Day 5 Progress
Final practice with a beautiful sunset at my friends home to celebrate the end of this amazing challenge. Feeling energized and inspired.
My favorite yoga quote to share:
Inhale the future
Exhale the past

Day 4 Progress
1 minute Headstand achieved! One day early, the daily practice really works. Still some room for improvement though as not too stable. I decided to reward myself with buying a new yoga mat for more practice.
Hope everyone is staying active and healthy too!
Day 3 Progress
Day 3: One of my favorite quotes in yoga is “Practice, all is coming”
Feeling more confident and open today and everything seems to come more easily as the body adapts to the practice. Today I came close to my goal of one minute for headstand inversion. Regular practice does make a difference!
To reward myself and prepare for the weekend practice, I also bought a new yoga mat.
Day 2 Progress
Day 2: Feeling very sore already but practice feels smoother today. I thought this quote was meaningful.
“Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.” ― B.K.S Iyengar
Day 1 Progress
"Anyone can practice. Young man can practice. Old man can practice. Very old man can practice. Man who is sick, he can practice. Man who doesn't have strength can practice. Except lazy people; lazy people can't practice Ashtanga yoga." - K. Pattabhi Jois
