The burpee is a full body, body weight exercise that combines cardio and strength training. It is easily modified, so any fitness level can participate, and yet it’s something that you can build on and become better at. The White & Case team chose this challenge as this shows that we can all improve ourselves without any fancy equipment or personal training. We are committed to 31,000 burpees completed from July 1 to July 31.

Motivation is all that’s required to start, but the true challenge is the consistency and determination required to complete – and this is an important takeaway for the youth and children of InspiringHK. We are all capable of improving ourselves and striving to be better in fitness and in life, even when we feel like we are just moving in the same spot – much like the burpee. The mental challenge is the hardest part, but in the end it’s only in your mind. Push your body to its limits, turn fitness and sport into a life changing habit, and see that you can accomplish more than you think!

UNITED, the White & Case Hong Kong office is working together on meeting this goal and complete this challenge as a team.

William Fong

Will is a partner in White & Case’s M&A and private equity practice, based in Hong Kong. As a native HK-er, Will is passionate about swimming and likes to say he learned to swim before he could walk – so passionate he accompanied his brother on a 45 KM swim around HK Island (in which he swam 400 meters!).

Aurora Leung

Since moving to Asia he has become an avid hiker and has gone on many hikes across the islands with his family. Like many others, Steve is looking forward to travelling freely so he can resume family ski trips and introducing his children to scuba.

Genevieve Tsang

Genevieve is currently an associate in White & Case’s M&A and private equity practice, based in Hong Kong. She has been with the firm since 2019 as a trainee solicitor. She is a field hockey player and she started picking up basketball since the firm’s sponsorship in the WELL DUNK! Basketball Programme. She also enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, wakeboarding and swimming.

Daniel Yeh

Daniel is White & Case’s global co-head of Private Equity, based in Hong Kong. While his preferred activity is travelling the world, he also enjoys tennis, losing at poker and imagining himself training in Muay Thai. Daniel has also tried to become more intentional with daily meditation, as he feels mental wellbeing is as important as physical health.

Elment Yu

Elment is currently an associate in White & Case’s M&A and private equity practice, based in Hong Kong. She has been with the firm since 2019 as a trainee solicitor. She enjoys playing squash the most out of various other sports she’s interested in.

Allana grew up by the beach in Australia and recently took up outrigger canoe and yoga teaching. Her last big trip was a week long trek in Patagonia (the W) and she is currently part of a research project on the power of gong meditation!

Monica Clavijo

Monica is a Senior BD Manager at White & Case, supporting the APAC private equity industry as well as corporate/M&A practice group, based in Hong Kong. Monica was born in Colombia and raised in New York City, where she kept busy as a long distance runner and ballet dancer. Since moving to Hong Kong over 12 years ago, she has tried a variety of sports, including a failed attempt at wakeboarding, hiking, and most recently started weightlifting.

      Campaign Description

In view of the severe Omicron outbreak, students from kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in Hong Kong will take an early summer break from April instead of July. The volatile pandemic situation led to a prolonged closure of LCSD leisure facilities, including sports centres, sports grounds, and grass pitches. COVID-19 home confinement has resulted in a critical decrease in all levels of physical activities, posing long-term threat to the physical and mental health among our next generation. IHKSports thus invited top executives in society to be the role models of our youths in order to demonstrate leadership and to provide inspiration and motivation for our young people in Hong Kong, as well as to support the cause of IHKSports to empower better youths, through sports.
